Dialga + Arceus got me a long way in the early seasons
Sad that Dialga fell off, but at least Arceus still has some presence.
I don’t think this is exactly what you meant and many here may not be old enough to remember where it comes from, but I have a thing where I love to combo putting a cape on a pokemon before it lands the killing blow to end the match.
It’s a throwback to the legendary James Brown and his cape routine. Short video of what I mean.
My absolute favorite way to play this in game is with Full Art Decidueye EX and Leaf Cape, attaching the cape just before attacking a back row pokemon with Pierce The Pain to end the match.
Currently mine is Pichu + yellow Oricorio.
Oricorio is an easy counter to all the exs running around.
Pichu not only helps ramp up your main Pokemon if they require some colourless energy, but also helps enable Oricorio in non-electric decks.
They are so flexible that they can be ran in so many decks.
I pair Oricorio with Tapu Koko because of the Volt Switch move. It does more damage than Oricorio, and because my main attacker is on the bench most of the time, lets me avoid many strategies that would break a lone Oricorio.
