Do you think we could end global hunger by throwing 200-600 billion USD at it? I feel like even if you could distribute it to all the poorest citizens of a country, $100 per person is not enough to permanently ward off food insecurity.

I was going based off the findings that in the West at least, after about $80-90k, increased wealth no longer translates to increased subjective well-being. Then, boosting the median American worker’s income (~45k) up to that level.

i don’t understand how you could have 14 children and not have an ounce of interest in any of their lives, skill issue

kids are funny without even trying, maybe try talking to them once and a while

    live, laugh, love but unironically

I’m sure some of the mothers don’t like him, and some of the children don’t like him

he’s also obviously somewhat neglectful/somewhat abusive. he’s just like a bad person.

Crazy how incompetent these people are. Come on you have EIGHT HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS. Just go skydiving, do a bunch of ultra pure MDMA at a festival, pay David Hockney to teach you how to paint, go on a safari, spend a week with a tribe doing ayahuasca….

I don’t think he has ever actually tried to buy happiness. What he has tried to do is use his money to generate anger, misery and nonsense. He has succeeded in achieving that, both for others and himself.

If he actually tried to buy happiness he absolutely could. With billions of dollars I could absolutely buy myself and millions of others some happiness just by putting it into projects that meaningful improve lives in an area.

He could use his wealth to solve the housing crisis overnight if he wanted to. Imagine housing for all, a right for everyone, you’d go down as a champion of the people. But nope, instead he spews poison at trans people and stirs shit with chuds.

Yeah exactly. There’s a lot of ways to use this money to buy happiness, he chooses to buy unhappiness and succeeds at it.

I don’t think he has ever actually tried to buy happiness.

Yeah, he wants to buy happiness but he doesn’t really want to pay full price.

Because it’s not the case that money can’t be spent in a process that yields happiness, it’s that money alone isn’t sufficient. Happiness is the return on investments in kindness and other genuine acts of love, but he only has money and spite, which don’t foot the bill.

  • especially when your idea of happiness is to go to epstein’s island to buy sex with trafficked minors, but you’re such an unpleasant pedo elite, even the other unpleasant pedo elites don’t want to deal being around you.

poor ultra douchebag elon can’t catch a break. [sad trombone]

You have to be insanely mentally disturbed to be unable to comprehend how you could be a hero to mankind if you simply gave some of your money away. Like, a minuscule amount.

He is not only a sociopath but also a fucking dipshit. Apartheid blood money will really take you to the mountain, but this mothefucker is acting like he’s stuck at the top or some shit

    False. Absolutely false.

If I suddenly had 800 billion dollars, I would achieve a one-in-a-lifetime state of happiness by immediately donating it all.

Donation is pointless at that level since it ends up just creating new avenues of graft and exploitation as it’s distributed.

Using it to build up strike funds, arm revolutionary groups, supply existing orgs with support, and create viable cooperative alternatives to existing industries might work. But at that level your $800bn really only exists as a representation of your stake in a system that is diametrically opposed to that kind of action.

In that context, intent and motive matters. If a deed brings internal satisfaction (e.g. feeling good, relief, moral gratification, avoiding guilt, avoiding feeling like a monster) then it has a personal benefit, which negates true selflessness.

Doing good aligns with your values. That alignment feels good. It’s not entirely selfless. There’s still a psychological incentive. That’s still a form of gain. Even the burdened altruist gets something. If not peace, then at least the ability to function without drowning in self-loathing.

And if we start changing the definition of “selflessness” then it renders the entire argument moot.

          Check. Your move.

      Donating it all is stupid.

Instead, build entire fucking utopian cities, and watch the people there make themselves money/happiness.

Instead of watching your donation get squandered.

The last thing I wanna hear from one of the richest people on earth is that they feel sad. Literally the last thing I wanna hear from them, cause it’s their final words.
