Good thing we got rid of that whole “Don’t be evil.” thing a while back.
The framing here treats Anthropic’s refusal as some kind of moral threshold worth noting, but the Pentagon’s AI partnerships have always been about who blinks first on contract terms, not ethical lines. Google taking over that slot says more about how performative the original refusal was than anything else. The real question is whether any of these companies actually have leverage to negotiate meaningful red lines, or if the whole dance is just managed acceptance with better PR.
