On June 25, 1876, at the Battle of the Greasy Grass (Battle of Little Big Horn) Lakota, Arikara, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho defended Sioux and Cheyenne families living in south central Montana in a battle with the Seventh Regiment of the United States Cavalry.

As explained in An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States for Young People by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, adapted by Debbie Reese and Jean Mendoza:

In June 1876, a large encampment of nontreaty Sioux and Cheyenne families was gathered along the Little Bighorn River. Later that month, Custer and the Seventh Cavalry prepared to attack the encampment, but warriors led by Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull successfully intercepted them. Most textbooks call this the Battle of the Little Bighorn, but Lakota and Cheyenne people, especially those whose ancestors defended the encampment villages, know it as the Battle of the Greasy Grass.

Sioux chief Sitting Bull and Lakota leader Crazy Horse directed their warriors against Lieutenant George Armstrong Custer’s regiment of over 225 cavalry men near the Little Bighorn River. Custer and his men died in the battle, and the united tribes claimed victory over the U.S. military that week.

But the victory against the United States was short-lived. Crazy Horse died in 1877 in U.S. military custody, as that government worked steadily to disarm the nations of the western plains and force their people onto reservations. Sitting Bull lived another 14 years and was murdered at the Standing Rock Indian Reservation by an Indian Agent. He was targeted for his political power and his participation in the anti-imperialist spiritual movement, Ghost Dance.

Marble markers for the Seventh Cavalry were erected in 1890, but it was not until Memorial Day of 1999 that red granite markers were added to the historic site to honor the memory of the Lakota, Sioux, Arikara, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho who died the week of the Battle of Greasy Grass.

    Started playing Doll’s Nest. It’s Unreal Engine 4 and on my PC it runs like shit. I had to find a Steam post where someone listed some engine.ini changes that forces the game to slow-load the different LODs because the game is constantly loading in and out high-poly LODs like a dipshit. Even tried to play it off an SSD but didn’t seem to make a difference. Runs badly now but it’s mostly 45-60 FPS at least.

    Game is OK. It’s surprising how good some parts are and how sloppy others are. The environments look pretty good and are surprisingly big. Lots of exploration in a megastructure. Although it’s hard to progress sometimes since the environments are so messy and the shortcuts are like 50% useless.

    It’s pretty sloppy in the difficulty balance, they added in a hard mode option at the start of the game that I think is because of how easy the game is. Like 1/2 of the enemies can easily be strafed around. They at least don’t B-line it to you as soon as you’re in range and don’t swarm you too badly, which is a common problem with games like these, but they’re not that interesting either. The only way the game can make things interesting is to just spam enemies at chokepoints, so the action part if the game is diminished and it really is more of a clunky RPG with a real-time aspect.

    A lot of really obvious DS-inspiration from the looping level design, NPC quests with scattered characters, hub world, stamina system, item description lore, story in general, etc. So over soulslikes. Trying to turn my doll character into some robot freak, the character creation aspects are pretty good. Though there’s an obvious bishoujo/lolicon bent to it that’s hard to ignore.

    Bosses are whatever. They’re really smart to make this game 90% about projectiles because the clunkiness of melee combat is avoided. But it crops up in the bosses a little. They seem cool design-wise so far, but the actual fights are tedious and simplistic. I can’t tell if I’m underlevelled or what because I’m running out of BP (basically magic/action points) throughout the last few bosses and you can only carry so many BP-replenish items on you. I got really, really lucky with the last boss and on my last grenade item it corroded and killed them. I literally ran out of everything else and unless you have a melee weapon (which I think might use BP too?) you can run out of BO and can’t attack at all, which seems like a bad balance. The weapons and body parts/equipment are unbalanced as fuck. And the game doesn’t really explain any of it, you really need to check out the manual on the Nitro Plus website to understand some of it.

    Kinda’ cool though. Wonder if they’ll make another or not.

    I get to experiment on a work friend who has literally had no interest in music at all and is 38. He cant tell different Bon Jovi songs are the same band. I gave him Dead Kennedys tonight and he has texted me that its badicallt like being around me set to music.

      I forget how BAD anime can be. Imagine a triangle, on each end you have Writing, Animation, and on the most lopsided you have nudity, and it’s a points based thing, where adding nudity costs more than several levels of writing and animation, and it’s no wonder i fell off around this time

    This past year I got really, really into vocaloid. Mostly Teto (yeah I know she isnt a vocaloid, shut up) but I certainly enjoy Miku too. Also last year, Deltarune went from being one of my favourite games to an all-consuming obsession

    So when I heard the secret boss theme in Chapter 5 three days ago, I just fucking lost my mind. Fuck you MEAN Miku is in Deltarune??? Like Hello!!! Deltarune was made for me specifically
