Uh… Vietnam was started by Kennedy, and rapidly expanded by LBJ. Nixon actually started the war on cancer, restructured the NIH, and the framework for universal healthcare later rebranded as Obamacare. Hard to imagine those were Republican priorities at one point.
Yes vietnam was a long standing issue and why Nixon ran on the platform of ending the war… but he also was involved in stalling peace talks so he’s campaign wouldnt be derailed. To noone’s shock, it caused the war to last several more years and extended Laos and Cambodia. And to curb the domestic disloyalty, the first wave of the war on drugs began.
Republicans priorities have always been the same.
