If it only goes 100 miles, why wouldn’t you just take a train?
Difficult when the sea is in the way. Or the terrain is impractical for a low volume route.
Don’t suppose we could get an electric hovercraft?
Because nobody thought to build a rail connection to the Orkney islands.
