The view definitely was really great. Only a small portion of the ruins had been uncovered that tourists like myself could walk through, but from up on the temple you could see an expanse of other buildings poking up out of the jungle. Chichen Itza was a huge city; the view made me wish I could go back in time to walk around to see everything as it had been before the jungle reclaimed it.
I’ve been to the top of this temple, back in the mid 90’s when people were still allowed to go up. Banning climbing was certainly necessary, you could see that all the traffic was eroding the stairs back then. Dangerous descent too. The climb wasn’t bad, but coming back down those steep narrow steps made me take my time. Slipping and tumbling to the bottom could easily be deadly, and I wasn’t looking to become another sacrifice to the gods.
Farts aren’t supposed to be chunky.
Used to use Vent playing Eve Online 19 years ago. Worked great back then. Apparently it’s still around, but still no Linux support after all these years.
That’s what I figured it was when I was a kid. Same letters as the compass rose, information from around the world.
All the pressure built up from the escalating screams echoing inside my skull will make my head explode in a spectacular and messy fashion.
If you have an enclosure, I would say try out ASA. Similar to ABS, I’ve found it makes some really nice parts that are tough and UV resistant. Great for things you want to leave outdoors. Otherwise TPU is useful stuff too, and no heated chamber required. I was using it this weekend to print up seals and grommets for a trailer I’m rewiring. It’s nice being able to print up some parts I need rather than making a drive to the hardware store and hoping they’ll have something I can use.
Just put the comics section out of the Sunday paper in a frame for him. He won’t know the difference.
I agree that it’s probably a speed issue. When I first started printing, I was seeing just how fast I could go with PLA and tuning for that. Decided to try out PETG a few months later, and it was a disaster. Layers weren’t bonding properly, and the filament would bridge across points on the print. Once I backed print speed down to 50, I started to get much better results.
They probably won’t include all the federal employees being kicked to the curb in the unemployment numbers either.
I didn’t know that existed

“Mr. Bradshaw, will you stand up please?”
If it ever came to needing a lawyer, I can find one (neighbor is a very good defense lawyer and a really decent guy). I did consider getting some type of coverage initially, but decided not to. My concern with paying for CC insurance is that, like medical insurance, they’ll happily take your money then probably find a reason to deny you when you need it. “Sorry, but you didn’t call for prior authorization before you discharged your firearm. You unfortunately are not covered for this incident. Oh, and as a reminder, your next premium payment is due at the end of the month…”
I know, it’s a nuclear option. Seriously shouldn’t put that card down right off. And yeah, hasn’t gone well for any central or south american government that the US has destabilized or overthrown due to some large corporation’s interests. But as all this garbage escalates, bringing up the possibility could make owners and shareholders squirm a bit. It hurts them financially, the only thing that would make them care. People who Trump might (might, small chance) listen to. But before that point? Those companies can produce all kinds of things. Doesn’t mean Canada or Mexico have to let those goods go out across their borders. Their trade agreement has been torn up by Trump again. And you know that bureaucracy is complicated, things get held up in customs sometimes, occasionally for very very long times. Paperwork gets lost… When companies here in the US are screaming about their supply lines breaking down again, now because of HIS stupid tariff war, there will be some negative political fallout. Trump’s ego and image are vulnerable things despite all the bluster. He won’t back down, but he could pivot to something else and let this nonsense drop.
That was Cory Doctorow’s recent take on it too. Trump just threw out the trade agreement with Canada and Mexico he was so proud to say was his accomplishment, after renegotiating NAFTA. They really should say fine, stew in your own mess. Ignore patents, crank out cheap pharmaceuticals, forget about DRM. Nationalize US factories on their soil. Will hurt for a while until new trade is established, but there is the whole rest of the planet to trade with.
Good album, listened to it again a couple days ago. State of the Union may have been written for the Bush presidency, but sounds just as applicable right now.
It became a short-lived fad back in the mid 90’s when I was in college. The goth and art kids leaving messages on dorm doors using black sticky notes written in silver sharpie marker. Not like we had texting yet.
