Trust me, it’s painful to me as well, and has been for most of my life at this point. People are an incredibly difficult species to herd it seems. Give them just a little bit to subsist with and they just… live with it. And now it looks like the powers that be have decided that we can subsist on less, and can be easily replaced with their oh so capable AIs. Time will tell how things go, but I’m seeing a lot of violence and turmoil in my country’s future because so many people remain complacent.

Did you see how the protests in support of Palestenians have been treated buy our government and universities? I’m not saying you are wrong, I’m saying that protesters were already facing being expelled from universities, fired from jobs, and/or arrested, and now we have an extremely corrupt and authoritarian government that has been elected, one with total disdain for the people’s rights. I doubt they would tolerate months long protests without bringing in the US military. Not the kind of thing to take lightly!

That’s fair, but the number one complaint about YouTube is the ads, and I do think content creators deserve to be compensated for their time. Perhaps a way within Peertube to donate to the creator?

I joined Pixelfed yesterday, the Instagram alternative. I wasn’t really active on IG and haven’t logged in in years, but Pixelfed seems solid. The glaring issue though is that none of my friends use it, so it’s just a personal photo for now, but hopefully that will change.

These people don’t read history and were brought up through a poor quality education system that told them the US was the greatest nation on earth and we never did anything bad, and if we did, well, it worked out in the end didn’t it?

Well, in a situation where you are going to your primary physician and not going to a hospital then you would be responsible for the co-pay for the doctors visit and whatever the prescriptions cost after insurance, so even though it’s the start of the year and I haven’t paid anything towards the deductible, it still would be less than $50. With my plan, my co-pay is $10 and I usually have my prescriptions covered 100%. That’s why I’m saying a hospital visit would be a better comparison because that’s where you really get screwed here. I am in no way defending US healthcare, just being honest about my experiences. Now, if you didn’t have insurance, then a visit like this to the doctor and prescriptions could easily be over $150.

I’m with Ambetter, which has one of the lowest denial rates in the country, about 13% I believe.

If I went to the doctor for bronchitis, then I would pay about 15 dollars after insurance for the visit and prescriptions. Hospitalization would completely different though, and I think that’s a better comparison to make.
