I didn’t create this. I found it. And think it’s hilarious and accurate for most of Lemmy these days. Hi stalkers! :)

General News@lemmy.today•Bill Gates Warns A.I. Is More Dangerous Than Big Tech Will AdmitEnglish
74·9 days agoMr. Gates said technological advances had truly stunned him three times: In 1980 when he first saw a graphical user interface, which led to the modern personal computer. In 2022 when the leaders of OpenAI came to his house to demonstrate what would soon become ChatGPT. And this year when he looked closely at the advances being made by Claude Code, Anthropic’s A.I. tool.
Coding, Mr. Gates said, is the subject he knows best, and Claude’s abilities shocked him. “The idea that now these things are in a meaningful sense better than I am is like: What the hell?” he said.
AI will either be the greatest equaliser ever invented, or the worst source of injustice,’ Mr Gates said. ‘Even under the best circumstances, the transition to this new AI era will be one of the most turbulent times in human history.’
I think it’s the greatest equalizer ever invented. But corporate AI is trying to ruin things for everyone. Local-run and hosted AI is amazing though!

32·17 days agoOh I don’t think it’s healthy at all. On the other hand, loneliness isn’t healthy either. A lot of the people who seem to fall for this sort of stuff, seem to have mental health issues that keep them from connecting with others. So I don’t think this is any worse.
I find it strange, but live and let live is my motto.

22·17 days agoDon’t worry, there will be more and more stuff like this happening. I bet there are even a fair number of Lemmy posters who have AI gfs. I’ve run into a few types that’d I’d bet have them. So more AI kids on the way! lol
I don’t get it, but hey, I think if Lemmy is truly as accepting of diversity as it says it is, then this is one of those things we should probably accept. I don’t understand the AI relationship people, but it’s not hurting me, so let them have their AI lives if it makes them happy.
AI is not going anywhere, and it’s only going to expand. So I’m beyond bored of all the anti-AI nonsense. You all can’t stop it. You won’t even be able to boycott it, because it’ll be incorporated into everything. So more AI babies on the way!

31·25 days agoWell, I do like the National Enquirer. It was much more fun in the 1980s though. But no, I disagree with you.
Actually you’re mad because of it’s politcal leanings, regardless of content. This news item about the shooting is reported on by lots of news orgs.
Did you read anything in this article that you found to be untrue?

General News@lemmy.today•In-N-Out gunman Chad Williams railed against crime in chilling posts before Idaho mass shootingEnglish
31·25 days agoOkay, thanks for the clarification, but I don’t think anyone, regardless of political leaning, is going to be okay with some dude walking into an In-N-Out restaurant and just shooting and killing people. Saying it somehow trivializes the situation because you don’t like a certain political party seems pretty messed up to me.
You’re free to feel however you want politically, but man, I think that’s kind of lame. These people were literally at work or just grabbing some food, and they got murdered. There’s nothing cool, funny, or political about that. It’s just horrible.
Not everything is Republicans vs Democrats. I know Lemmy feels that way, but brother, you’re are just adding to that fire.

PapaSkwat@lemmy.wtfOPMtoVibe Coders@lemmy.today•Vibe coding is here to stay, but engineers and computer scientists say 'learn to code' is still good adviceEnglish
1·1 month agoAgreed. I vibe code very simple projects for my personal use. Projects I wouldn’t have paid anyone to program for me, and I wouldn’t have paid for any of them. They have been mostly personal training, run tracking, raspberry pi apps, etc. All personalized just for me.
Vibe coding actually inspired me to learn real programming just for fun. But I wouldn’t want to design a consumer app or anything of that nature anyway. Too complicated and I don’t like putting up with people’s bullshit.
I do think AI will get good enough to do ultra complex apps though. In a very short while. Which is why many programmers feel threatened. I get it and sympathize. Meh, that’s the way society advances. Plenty of people in other industries have had to worry about tech advances replacing them. We all just move on. It still sucks, but it sucked for us too.
Ultimately I think AI has more positives than negatives. I’m well aware that most of Lemmy disagrees! lol
