    The term “open-source” is ambiguous, and it wouldn’t be entirely wrong to say that this device is open-source since there is code within it that is indeed open. However, it is better to use the term libre software when discussing user freedom.

    Nonetheless, this device would still be considered non-free because the chip and other components, such as the bootloader, are closed-source.
