    The fact that 57,000 people, living on an undefended frozen land mass that every world power would love to possess, think it’s a good idea to “seek independence” from one of the very few free nations still remaining on this woebegotten planet tells me everything I need to know about the inbreeding that goes on up there.

        He’s not wrong in the basic idea, though.

        Greenland becomes independent and then wwould remain independent for about a week before either Russia or the USA come knocking on their door and they won’t take no for an answer

          The whole reason they want to leave in the first place is the legacy of colonialism. Calling them inbreeds doesn’t help anything and harkens back to that period, imo.

          Reminds me of how France has been booted out of much of West Africa. I have seen online mocking the West African nations for turning their backs on France, pointing out that Russia is an even worse partner while often ignoring the fact that France refusing to fully face their colonial legacy is the wedge that Russia exploited in the first place.

          I wish more people would lead with empathy, I think it would solve many problems.

        It would be against the laws of physics NOT to talk down to them.

        Situations like the one in Greenland are a microcosm of a larger trend of self-destruction. Every problem that humanity faces is almost trivially solvable. Literally every single one. So so easy to solve. But we can’t. Because people are stupid. Our species is just doomed. And I have to sit here and be nice to these humans while they kill us all.

        Seriously. The average educated college-bound senior scores an 18 on the ACT in Florida. That’s barely higher than my cat. Most “people” are basically forest creatures who can speak a few words of English.

                Not at all. Our species is beyond fucked. There’s nothing to be superior about. Maybe you’re someone with an unjustifiable faith in the ultimate goodness of our subhumanity.

                Regardless, just do your best to enjoy what will probably be our last century on this planet.
