    I’m leaving the US this weekend to start my PhD abroad.

    I’d the US doesn’t want to fund R&D, then talent will look elsewhere.

    no shit, funded phds in the US are highly competitive and also for the most part very much not worth the time you spend doing them due to private industry paying way more than any grad program could dream of.

    not to mention the lack of professorship opportunities and the absolute scam which is postdocs
