when I first started on lemmy.ml I received a ban from a federated instance for being a “hexbear alt and troll”, that’s how I realized I might fit in here
I’ve said this since forever. People talk about hexbear pre-federation as if it was a good place. It was stale, full of people arguing over rocks and when they weren’t doing that they were posting about how much better a site this is than Reddit.

There’s actual consequences for this behavior IRL, like losing friends, jobs, getting the cops called on you
