From Holger van Eyck
A little snow and sunshine in the early morning. Two Little Owls, one of which is well camouflaged.
Ein wenig Schnee und Sonnenschein am frühen Morgen. Zwei Steinkäuze, wovon einer gut getarnt ist.
What’s the one that looks like a Boreal but isn’t?
Ummm…one of these ?
Hm. Boreal looks more like Fred Sanford than I remembered. Northern Hawk then?
My Brain: It’s a Boreal probably
Me: No, it’s the other one
My Brain: Boreal?
Me: NO - the one that looks like that but isn’t.
My Brain: Boreal.
Me: That’s it, I’m outta here
Now I’m invested…
When you figure it out, let me know! 😅
Northern Pygmy! right?
They do make me think of the Pygmy Owl head on a Little Owl’s body.
Very well hidden! I didn’t even see the other one for some time :)
This image evokes a nostalgic feeling in me lol (despite never seeing snow or an owl xd) I think it’s more of how calm and comforting it is.
Spotting that one from a distance would be near impossible! It just disappears into the scenery.
I’d love to see an adult witness snow for the first time! 😆
The other year we did have a snow camel on my route to work. This climate change stuff has everyone mixed up!
I definitely thought snow camel was going to be a euphemism for moose but nope, that’s actually a camel
Here’s a better article explaining the situation after the camel’s people got it home safely.
Basically, they let it out of the trailer to hang out off the highway so it wasn’t stuck inside for hours and wouldn’t get hit. I remember it was a big sensation at the time. I drive on this hill every day, so it was fun having this little mystery for a few days.
“Snow camel” is something i never thought i’d ever hear, but i love it hahaha. I almost thought you just edited that camel in the picture.
I’d love to see an adult witness snow for the first time! 😆
It’s just edible water sand, i’ve seen everything already!
I [don’t] remember going to germany or switzerland when i was 5-7 and seeing snowy mountains. Safe to say that was the most fun child me ever had lol
Lol edible water sand. It does make everything look clean and pretty though
I’m glad you have gotten to see it at some point.
