HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) — One after another, callers on a telephone town hall with U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga pressed the Michigan Republican about possible cuts to Social Security. Among them was a retired teacher and coach from West Michigan who said he and his wife, both with disabilities, have struggled to access their benefits.

I can see it now, all those protest voters just sitting there, smug af, as the world burns around them, “I did the right thing.”

You did the right thing. You sure showed us. Man. Everything is so much fucking better now. We’re gonna make so much positive change now. Ship is righted, yes’siree.

You think any of us wanted the US to be assisting a genocide? You think that any of us cheered that shit on? Man, thank God for people like you to somehow show us how dumb we fucking were for selecting the lesser of two evils and trying to protest our way to getting our politicians to do the right fucking thing. No no, at the end of the day it was so much better to elect a Great Depression-causing dictator-wannabe caricature of a clown…because having our rights taken away is going to make it sooooooo much easier to get things changed.

Man. You showed us. Congratulations. You did it.

JFC. You actually doubled down…and are proud of it? Absolutely tragic. And worse off, you actually think you did the right thing…

See, the difference between you and me is that I don’t engage in purity politics. We’re presented with two shit options and are forced to pick one. Me, being an adult, understand that it’s magnitudes easier to enact change when we don’t live under a possible authoritarian. You would rather allow everything to burn down because we didn’t meet your requirements.

Every other progressive is trying to fight what’s going on in Gaza. We’re protesting. We’re contacting our politicians, were doing what we can to enact change. We voted to try and get a sensible politician in that may help us with these actions…and you…you just made it so much more difficult to actually make a change because no one fully capitulated to you. People like you are why progressive politics are hampered, you don’t vote for the lesser evil…you fucking throw a tantrum and refuse to participate.

It’s tragic, you want the world to be a better place. But people like you make it so much fucking worse.

Edit: love that you deleted your posts by the way…
