To mitigate the impact of the increases, BC Ferries is offering a 30 per cent discount on saver fares, encouraging passengers to book ahead and travel during off-peak times. This includes early morning, late evening and midday sailings during the week.
Foot passengers can also take advantage of saver fares for $15 when booking in advance on routes between Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island.
There should be a discounted rate for island residents and atleast 25% reserved space for residents. Our taxes pay for this shit and its essential travel. We can’t even get to and from our home without beating thru a crowd of tourists.
I get prioritizing over tourists, but help me understand, why should island residents get a priority over residents of the Lower Mainland? Unless an island resident is coming for medical treatment they can’t get on the island?
Because you have driving access to all of North America and we’re on an island in the Pacific ocean?..
Ditto for us in the sunshine coast.
I always thought so, expensive enough to live there without the huge price of trying to travel. Though I lived there for awhile so many be biased.
