I got some boosters from spell ruler to check out the old formats and have something for in the future I could potentially play some progression games against. I even got a binder for them too.

I also found the other day my metal gear solid trading cards and threw them in there too since it’s another konami product. CCGs are cool but I can see how easily they can become a money pit lol.

Have you checked out Master Duel? It’s the official digital way to play Yu-Gi-Oh! and although it’s not great for retro format support, it does have the entire card pool available so you could theoretically play retro formats against people online.

I gotta check it out and see if my pc can run it thanks for reminding me. So far the best program I’ve found is edopro by project ignis as it lets you playtest decks against a so-so ai. It’s online play supports goat format which is cool and you can easily import banlists to play whatever format you want.

Yeah, EdoPro has been around for a while! It’s good but since I started playing Master Duel, I’ve found it to be a much slicker experience. The only problem is that you have to craft cards in MD and some of the Goat format staples (like Pot of Greed, Graceful Charity, etc.) are Ultra Rares which are more resource heavy to craft. It can also feel a bit hollow to craft them because they’re banned in modern play so you can’t use them on ladder and such.

But if you decide to get Master Duel, I’d be down to play a few games of Goat from time to time, I like that format!

I’ve been trying to find YGO players on here for ages but people seem to (understandably) broadly prefer other card games. I love YGO but the modern format is a mess and I understand why it would put people off the game. Retro formats like Goat, Edison, Tengu, or just limited in general are really fun though.
