Another deadly ramming into crowd by lunatic driver.

When they woke up?
Make people safe! Install (explosive?) anti-car concrete barriers.

I heard they let the guy through the barriers, as is practice for vendors. Barriers wouldn’t help.

It seemed to be as the festival was wrapping up. My assumption is police removed barriers without warning the remaining crowd.

you ever wonder how often someone intentionally kills somebody with their car but just acts like it was an accident? or they just do a hit and run on some jogger?

My dad hit a pedestrian when I was around 7ish just to prove a point about right of way and jaywalking.

There was room in the intersection but he sped up and started yelling about right of way and how people were idiots. I didn’t see exactly what happened because I was in a carseat but as we passed through the intersection the car gets whacked by something and I hear a hard THUNK.

He didn’t say anything but looked through his rear view and muttered “moron”. Looking back on that ordeal as an adult, he definitely clipped that pedestrian and kept driving too. I thought maybe the pedestrian got mad and slapped the car as we passed but there was no way that would make sense.

jesus… did you ever ask him about it when you were older?

my dad used to joke about running over pedestrians… stuff like, “oh there’s a guy on a bicycle, those are 10 points!”

i suppose i make jokes like that myself… i’ve personally had a lot of people do dangerous things to fuck with me on my bicycle in bike lanes… after a while i switched to only riding on the sidewalk

i made a joke like that yesterday. my partner and i were arriving at our camp site and my gf said “mind those kids” and i said “but they’re extra points”

          it’s just dark humor

The number of children i have intentionally run over is… minimal

No he committed an assortment of financial fraud using government grants and funds and fled to Russia. Haven’t talked to him in over 10 years. Much better for it to be honest.

When I’m walking, running, biking… I always assume that the cars are actively trying to murder me and I have to move in such a way that they can’t get me even if they tried. It’s not too far from reality.

Adding claymore mines with pressure sensors to existing concrete barriers would do what you want.

the problem with that is, it’s only meant for actual warzones. if someone has an actual accident and would be stopped by a normal barrier, but instead the mine blows them to bits, or a stupid kid triggers it somehow, that would be tragic.

IMO spike strips and dull wire (gets caught in wheels) combined with concrete blocks/pillars should be better to stop all ground vehicles, except hovercrafts
