Hearing the handful of white people in the crowd at the theater gasp at the first N-word being dropped in blazing saddles and then forgetting about doing that again for the subsequent ones was interesting. Hearing one of them shame on this town for so little people coming out to see this film and when I said “hell yeah this my second time watching it” because I wanted to be social and talk to people as the movie ended I just got a yeah… as they walked away.
Man it’s a weird feeling when white people do this, performatively gasp at the N-word but not wanting to talk to brown people. There’s only so many “I’m just super attractive and intimate people” monologues I can do after the fact when things like this happen.
