Yeah, I am always forgetting my owls in the sun.
If they wouldn’t make them so quiet and in colors that blend in, it’d be a whole lot easier to remember.
A nice sunbath is important to birds though. Preening oil contains vitamin D precursors that are converted to D3 by sunlight. Then when they go to preen again, they ingest some of that vitamin D. Or they just want some extra warmth or to shake out those feathers. There are a bunch of reasons for them to enjoy it.
