I will say there is a problem worldwide, thanks to the level of discourse on social media, with people having much more shallow understanding and much more “punchy” takes without any shred of nuance (like your take). That’s not an “American left” problem. The death of nuance has eroded the entire level of discourse regardless of ideology. Worldwide.
