    Not the end of the world if you do. Just keep the nailbed clean and protected from bangs and bruises. Wide bandaids worked for me. Have lost a toenail before - it’s painful but the nail grows back just fine. You might need one of those foam “corn protectors” inside your socks to protect the toe from rubbing on your shoes.

      I’m back from the docs.

      So apparently it’s healing well and looking good but the nail may or may not come off. Still a bit swollen though.

      There was a differing opinion from doctor and nurse if the nail would come off.

      Anyway it’s splinted up for a couple of days then I’ll just keep using band aids to make sure the nail doesn’t get caught on anything.

      I also have another couple of days off so I’ll just rest up now.

      Also as an unexpected bonus it was fully bulk billed at this place.

      I’ll try not to worry too much now as that was my main concern. If it happens it happens.

      nothing beats soft wide shoes when you have a foot injury

      and I would consider using a cane for a week just to take a bit of weight off the foot when walking
