1: Kikuo - Breaking Things Into Pieces
paraparaparaparapara
I can’t really describe Kikuo’s music. If you like him, you’ll like this, if you don’t, you don’t. He uses pretty high-pitched tuning in a lot of his songs (though in his newer songs he’s tuned it down a bit), which I know a lot of people don’t like. I personally think it fits really well with his style, but I understand why others might find it annoying.
2: NayutalieN - Solar System Disco
MV’s cute and the music is pretty good as well
It’s syudou. ++
I think this might be one of the first Vocaloid songs I intentionally listened to so it’s probably one of the reasons I got into Vocaloid. Still really like it. Very good classic Vocarock
5: john / TOOBOE - question mark
I like the song but I just scrolled through the comments and it seems like it’s about how he hates when other people cover his songs? Which is understandable in a way but also a position I very much disagree with. I think usually people covering your song is a sign of respect, and, especially when done well, can show the many different ways different people can interpret the same song.
What do you guys think about covers? Back on Reddit I encountered someone once who hated them with a passion, talking as if it was the same as stealing, and the last song reminded me of that

Bless you!

I’ve heard multiple times about this issue before. But I didn’t know there was a song about it. (I wish there were subtitles.)
I’m one of those who love covers with a passion. It adds so much extra variety. And some songs or producers (maybe even vocaloid in itself) I wouldn’t even have found or gotten into it if it wasn’t for covers.
There’s also often vocaloid producers cooperating with singers (utaites), which I think is really cool. I should mention vocaduo here, a yearly project that encourages exactly this.
On the other hand, when there’s sometimes commenters (especially english / oversea ones) that assume the singer did all the work, it really annoys me and makes me cringe. (I think I saw this under Ado’s videos sometimes, but can’t find it again.)
Btw, do you know how copyright works with covers? I don’t know about any specifics of Japan’s copyright. But I don’t even know how covers are handled by german copyright law (where I live). I mean, if you use the original instrumentals, it’s clearly a derivative work. But what if you recreate the instrumentals yourself?
AFAIK, sometimes producers also explicitly encourage covers, and publish instrumentals (e.g. on piapro). If it’s using an NC license it still needs explicit permission to gain money on youtube I guess. I also wonder if there’s a common practice to share parts of the revenue with the producer.
