I’m not totally sure how this works, but I have the vague impression that Proton (the compatibility layer) runs each game in its own little environment, so whatever you install here should be contained to that little Windows compatibility environment.

My understanding is also that steam installs these kinds of things on its own all the time. I’d install it.
