Literally everyone is overworked and fried, in addition to being depressed about politics. My partner had a job that she got to leave at work, when she was home, she was home, all work resources were stuck at work so even if you wanted to do anything extra, you couldn’t. She would read all the time multiple books a month.

Now she works for a tech company and literally never reads. Even if she knocks off at 3, or 4pm out of sheer frustration with her project, or upper management, she’s so emotionally exhausted she doesn’t want to do half the stuff she used to after work when she was at the previous job.

But hey, the company is making record profits, and she just got a 2% raise after the company not giving raises for a few years

I’m a binge reader, so if I start a book and like it, I’m not gonna put it down. With all my responsibilities and lack of free time, I can’t commit to that. It also feels like I need to be relaxed and in a good mindset for it. So I pretty much only do it on vacations and maybe once in a while at home.

I recently got a new Kindle and have been enjoying reading a lot more. Though to be fair, it’s far easier to hold a tiny computer book in the bath instead of a 1000 page hardback. And more waterproof!
