    Also their history is wrong:

When reddit refugees flooded Lemmy, they filled it up with “libshit”

The regulars at .ml, lemmygrad and the developers themselves saw this takeover as a threat (despite telling Reddit to come join) and to even out the field of all these liberals, they brought in Hexbear.

Hexbear opened up their instance for the rest of lemmy, with the sole purpose to troll and ‘purge the libs.’ But that means liberals can also wander into their instance.

Within 24 hours Hexbear defederated from all the instances they wanted to troll because a bunch of clueless liberals asking questions was too much for them to handle with multiple members of their community having ‘panic attacks’ – I was in their Matrix and discords at the time (still am), and they were legitimately freaking out.

So no, SJW didn’t defederate, Hexbear defederated from all the others. There was also no evidence of any of this bigotry either. There were also no mentions of Palestine at the time, either, considering this happened prior to the conflict and again there is no evidence.

日 Nakoichi [they/them]@hexbear.net op c * + 5 - 15 hours ago Or you could just leave the Nazi bar. shitsjustfash was federated for about two days with hexbear if I recall correctly and in that time we experienced dozens of their users posting: ableism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, racism, literal Nazi apologia in the form of the “clean Wehrmacht” myth, downplaying the genocide of indigenous people in the americas and the ongoing one in Palestine. So when they claim that we are denying a “genocide” of Muslims in China (there literally isn’t one and they don’t actually give a fuck about Muslims) it would be funny if these people weren’t all over places like piefed too and trying to ensure that nobody from anywhere like here can actually provide any counterfactual arguments to their Nazi propaganda. And you. Yes you yourself, are all over here spamming your little copypasta trying to defend this decision and the BEST you can fucking do is “oh hmmmm I’ll look into it by asking the literal Nazi mod of shitsjustfash if they’re a Nazi, I’m sure they will be forthcoming and honest”

IMHO tankies and fascists are all just different flavors of the same authoritarian apology

Yeah, I don’t get it. I just turned my wrist 90 degrees. It didn’t seem like a big deal, so I thought maybe my client is just awesome. Opened Lemmy in a browser, same thing. If my old ass can figure it out…

Is your screen 14 inches tall? Even in landscape mode you’d have to flick the screen back and forth and back and forth and back and forth…

Pixel 7, Boost app, I click on the image, rotate, and it’s quite readable. Firefox was basically the same.

I guess it would be different if my near sight was bad and I do sympathize with people that are having trouble. Maybe it’s not a bad thing to encourage more narrow screenshots or, as in the case of many communities, encouraging textual captions for images.

Ask me again in a couple years once I’m past 50 and I may have different answer.

I assume you’re posting because you want people to see what you post. (Otherwise why would you post?) So I was just giving you a helpful suggestion that most people won’t read an ultra wide screenshot. The majority of web traffic comes from people on mobile devices. Even in landscape view it’s way too wide to read reasonably, and essentially no one is gonna run some image to text processing on some random post.

If you’re interested in people seeing what you post then i would suggest either making the browser window small before you screenshot it, and/or copy n paste the text into your post.

        Just a friendly suggestion

I press Win/Super+Arrow to bring browser to the side when screenshotting. It depends on DE, but Windows 8+ and KDE Plasma both have this hotkey working in my experience. A little effort on my side saves way more time/effort to others. And even on desktop I prefer reasonable line lenght that is easier to follow, and various classic newspapers around the world thought the same by breaking blocks of text into thin vertical columns.

Front page of NYT showing said thing

        Front page of Pravda newspaper

Front page of a vietnamese newspaper

That’s more of a recommendation than a critique.

All major human rights organisations in the world call Gaza a genocide.

Can someone link me just one which calls it the “Uyghur genocide”?

“Genocide is the wrong word to describe the horrors in XinJiang”

Wow great job on that one. You found the word genocide in a link in the 160 page report and it proves my point.

A link is not a claim by Amnesty by the way.

you haven’t even read that article, headline reader. If you did, you’d know that’s a deliberately provocative headline. lol

The 160 page report also does not contain Amnesty using the term genocide.

It only contains the three links which you pretend are evidence because you know you are utterly wrong.

Is there even an accusation of the crime of “Extermination”? Which is basically genocide without proving intent. That is what Israel got initially.

Is your argument legitimately over the usage of a word? You won’t even entertain any of the human rights abuses because it doesn’t contain your safe word? That’s not how literacy works.

Okay, well, the term “violation” is mentioned 80 times. “Abuse” 24 times. “Detain/detainees” mentioned 721 times.

            Why does Amnesty deny it?

Why does Human Rights watch deny it?

Why does Doctors Without Borders deny it?

Please don’t creep out on the votes and start arguments based on assumptions. If I wanted to debate, I would have commented.
