A deportation flight of 700 unaccompanied children was halted by a judge at the last possible minute over the weekend. An attorney representing the children said it best: “There are protections for unaccompanied minors that provide how a child can be released from custody, to whom, and the process if they want to go back to their country… If this were a benign repatriation to send children back to their parents, it wouldn’t be happening at midnight on Sunday of Labor Day weekend.”
