Jordanlund removed a post in news@lemmy.world because I, not even the post author, disagreed with his view of how moderation should work.

For extra pettiness, he removed my comments before removing the whole post.

PTB is pre-disposed against moderation, there’s no reason to treat them nicely. I’m sorry it is that way, but it is that way.

I’m not inclined to treat a hostile audience fairly and I have no obligation to do so.

If you come to me honestly with “Hey man, I think this is bullshit moderation” then you’ll get the honest support you need.

If you come to me with hostility? I’m not going to help you and I’m going to remember “oh, this asshole” if I see your name come up in future reports.

Which is not how this thread started life. :)

I get PMs all the time asking about why things happen and I’m not shy about reversing things that have gone wrong either because of a misunderstanding or what not.

In the case that started this thread, a poster erroneously broke the rules of a community, had their post removed, was told how to fix it and they did, the corrected post was allowed to stand. That user was totally cool about it, made the fix, we’re all good.

While that was going on, a completely unrelated PTB user decided to get all pissy, attacked me for daring to moderate, then brought what he thought was dirty laundry to PTB where I handed him his whole ass.

Not the same thing at all.
