TL;DR, Fuck Twitter and Facebook
“The person detained appeared to be an older man wearing glasses and a blue shirt, with a haircut similar to one Mallinson had in a photo he posted on an old Twitter account. Mallinson says he thought he had deleted the account after the platform was purchased by Elon Musk.”
Poor dude had to delete all his social media accounts as a result. Probably not a bad thing in the long term, but inconvenient.
The amount of people using AI, even grok to match random people with pictures of the shooters is horrifying.
I heard it was helpful and that people should keep doing it.
It’s going to lead to stupid vigilantes hurting an innocent person.
Not if you’re only sending those definitely reliable photo matches straight to law enforcement via the tip line. The downside is there’s a risk that it’ll needlessly tie up precious investigative resources which would just be awful.
“They don’t understand how to interpret those results to make sure that they’re not being led down the wrong path,” said Silverman.
That is an incredibly charitable interpretation. They don’t care.
It was a fed set up.
