Let’s say player A has 1 shiny Darkrai and 3 shiny Giratina.
Player B has 3 shiny Darkrai and 1 shiny Giratina.
If shinies are tradeable, what’s going to happen? Player A and B are simply going to swap their spares with each other, and be off on their merry way.
Once they have completed their collection, the players have no need to open packs.
By making such cards untradeable, the players have no choice but to open packs until they get the specific card they want, or get enough pity points to exchange for said card. Players would end up spending more money.
Yep. Also note that if you count solo missions + dailies + ranked, you get around 85 packs per set which is largely insufficient if you want to collect even 1 set fully without trading.
