The hate brigade against Hasan whenever one of his more influential detractors(Ethan KKKlein, Epstiny) crafts a line of attack to rally their followers is so ridiculous and dedicated that I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t just one of those same followers pretending they’re on the left. Either that or a shitlib who thought Hasan was too radical for them. “I’m ““leftist””/”“progressive”“, BUT” is probably one of the more common cliches I see from this crowd.
I think they believe it when they say it. Destiny mostly debates right wing people, and obviously the actual left is very marginal so it’s easy to confuse liberals for the left. It doesn’t help that most of the American “leftist” politicians are aoCIA style liberals. They see themselves as the reasonable moderates, while everyone to their left is a childish radical that is too fringe to even constitute a coherent political position alternative to liberalism.
