I get it — the thought of men going through “the change” throws people off, but men do experience hormonal changes in their 30s, 40s and up, just in different ways. Thought it’d be good to open the floor for discussion.

Being honest, I never really noticed such a transition. When I hit 25, I felt that I had less energy than before. It was more about how hard it was to function the next day after a night out. Other than that, I have not really felt any real changes.

you must be one of the lucky ones! For most women and men in andropause it’s a gradual slow drain then one day you wake up, and why am I so exhausted? Next thing you know it’s been quite a long time since you had a ton of energy 🥺

I have ADHD and have lived through a lifetime of fatigue so perhaps I never noticed it. I have been worn out and without energy since the day I was born.

A lot of people think ADHD is just not being able to sit still or being unable to focus in class due to a low attention span. It presents itself in so many different way and chronic fatigue is one of them because the brain has to cope with the dopamine overdrive. I’m sorry to hear, when were you diagnosed if you don’t mind sharing?

I am so sorry to hear that. Sounds very similar to my story, I suffered in perimenopause for the better part of 8 years before realizing what was happening to me.

That does sound dreadful. I am glad you brought this up, it’s a topic worth discussing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a real yet little studied thing, I hit some major walls over the last 5 years. Made some other things a lot worse. I just figured it was the slow motion horror show of watching the world decline into dystopia over the course of my conscious life wearing me down. But the early stages of man-opause could explain some things too.

Isn’t that how it always happens? It just slowly creeps up on you. You think it’s the world slowly decaying, but over time you realize you’ve been slowly fatigued and less motivated, etc?

At the very least I’m finding it is not just the world decaying. It’s me too! Lol I was working with a doc on some of this, but had to stop for a time. But yes, the fatigue and loss of motivation was trending downward but then hit really hard about 3 years ago for me. Messed with my life in a very significant way.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for my upcoming Gyno appointment. I truly hope to find a HRT therapy plan that works. I’m dragging and I’m ready for a change!

If the gyno doesn’t have an acceptable plan, maybe they can refer you to an endocrinologist. That’s the next step for me I think after some scheduled testing.

Hopefully the gyno just has a good plan though. 🙂
