        California unfortunately has a long tradition of creating stupid new laws that sound “helpful” with no technical ability to allow companies to abide by it (see firearm microstamping). Probably just going to selectively use it as a way to restrict some companies that won’t allow them access to private info or something.

    What about small devices like cameras, my router, my car software?

    I just read the text of this, and it sounds to me like it only mandates a birth date or age field as opposed to full-on age/identity verification.
    Still asinine, but not quite as severe as OP’s interpretation if accurate.
