Fucking brilliant micro aggression. This is the sort of petty shit I want to see from China. China likely modeled this legislation off an existing american bill that limits Chinese hardware. When usa complains China can just say “well you have this bill that does the exact same thing.”
The best part is that demanding all state owned data centers use domestic chips means there is significant pressure to develop domestic chips that are on par. Once China has developed chips that are on par with foreign ones there will be no reason to import chips because domestic chips will be a fraction of the cost.
usa tries to do this shit all the time but its always hamfisted and without nuance. Because usa are always the ones escalating China can just match the precedent and because they are an industrial power every move they make has real weight behind it.
Yeah, it’s funny to watch China beat the US at their own game.
