Tbf, Turtle Island libs will justify anything that was targeted against the USSR. Even those more progressive ones who’d usually actually care about protecting the innocent (or about legalism and thus the Rules of Civilised Warfare) to at least some degree, throw that out the window when the nation whose civilians suffer, is a socialist state the Red Scare taught them there are no innocents or noncombatants in, because communists are ontologically evil.

So there’s a lot of people who aren’t usually anywhere near that callous, who’d think Dr. Strangelove was the misunderstood good guy.
