California jury finds company knew its talc-based products were dangerous but failed to warn consumers
A California jury on Friday awarded $40m to two women who said Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder was to blame for their ovarian cancer.
The jury in Los Angeles superior court awarded $18m to Monica Kent and $22m to Deborah Schultz and her husband after finding that Johnson & Johnson knew for years its talc-based products were dangerous but failed to warn consumers.
Kent was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2014, according to court records. Schultz was diagnosed in 2018. Both women are California residents who say they used J&J’s baby powder after bathing for 40 years. Their treatments for ovarian cancer have involved major surgeries and dozens of rounds of chemotherapy, they testified at the trial.
40m$ from a multi billion dollar enterprise for criminal activity of causing cancer and mass murder? So it’s basically nothing and the court is complicit in the mass murder.
Also why are they talking about a company like it’s a person? The company isn’t an entity that decided all on its own to do crimes. Actual people made these decisions. Name them! Shame them!! And most importantly, charge them with the horrible crimes they’ve committed! For fucks sake this system is a joke.
This doesn’t look like a class action, s just two cases. This could expose them to massive liability from other lawsuits that bankrupts them.
Im 100% this killed my aunt.
Assholes are trying to avoid paying out by the “Texas two step”. Some bullshit legal maneuver which is the equivalent of a lizard shedding its tail to distract something trying to eat it.

No way they didn’t make that much extra and more by the decision to suppress the risks.
Even if it was enough of a penalty to dissolve the company with no payouts, it wouldn’t be enough. People need to be held accountable as individuals for decisions like these. Anyone who knew and didn’t do what they could to stop it should be in prison.
