Yup, this is real, recorded 15 minutes before the new year.
Also see our top-of-the-2010s Christmas song Půlnoční, whose music video features the building on midnight of New Year’s. Since I was there shortly before that time, I told all people willing to listen.
Dang, did your heart jump a little?
Yup, I didn’t want to miss the train and wait for 4 hours! If you speak Czech, you might appreciate this parody song about a rural Slovak woman missing the day’s last train and having to spend the night at Prague Main (which was awful back then before the 2007 renovation)

The band specializes at finding Czech soundalikes of pop song titles and writing cover versions around them. This time, it’s Everlasting Love → Nestihlas ten vlak (“You [female] Didn’t Catch That Train”) and features bangers like Rána jako hrom − s láhví spadl Rom (“What a thump − A Romani fell over with a bottle”).
Other songs include
- YMCA → Nájem zvedej (“Keep Raising the Rent”) about greedy landlords
- Video Killed the Radio Star → Vidiak ryl by rejhy do spár (“The Vidiac [Drill Bit] Would [Barely] Scrape [Bathroom Tile] Seams”) about a man incompetent at hanging a picture
- Felicita → Felicie about Škoda Felicia, our first and very popular post-Communist car
- Knowing Me, Knowing You → Já jsem tvůj, ty jsi můj (“I [male] Am Yours, You [male] Are Mine”) about a stereotypical gay couple bragging how unattracted to women they are (somewhat reflects the weird amusement edging on homophobia prevalent in this country)
- I Promise Myself → Naproti maj sejf (“They Have a Safe Across the Street”) about a thief lusting for a heist
- Break My Stride → Pojď na Skype (“Go Get Skype”) about convincing friends to get ISDN and avoid (notoriously extortionate) telephone bills
Took me a second to get it xD
