The film, set in 1973, features a Louisiana Army National Guard squad of nine from an infantry unit on weekend maneuvers in rural bayou country as they antagonize some local Cajun people and become hunted.
Highly underrated film. The obvious comparisons are to “Deliverance,” but thematically closer to “Aguirre, the Wrath of God.” You could write a great college or high school paper talking about justice, discipline, social structures, power, subcultures, etc. If you’re into film technique, the way this movie uses sounds, silences, and setting is masterful. An action/thriller that also makes you think.
Also on Fawesome (at least for me in MX)
https://fawesome.tv/movies/10343295/southern-comfortoh yeah in the US too.
Fawesome is so weird, it has tons of forgettable crap, then suddenly it’ll have like “The Good The Bad and The Ugly”.
