Hey all, I’ve got a few apps I rely on daily, such as Total Commander, CX File Explorer and Material Files. Regarding my current needs, none suffice 🙁
The closest I guess would be Material Files, but it will only show a grid of two columns or just a list. I’d like to have the kind of flexibility of a typical desktop file browser like Explorer. Or on iOS FileBrowser by Stratospherix. That app is amazing but they don’t make it for Android.
I’ve tried so many. On older devices I can use Asus File Explorer which comes stock on their phones, but I only have a version that’s a little older, and it won’t do SMB on my Androis 13 device. It works on older ones.
I’ve also tried out Astro and Amaze, they both have good and bad aspects but neither provides what I want.
Anyway, verbose post I know, but if you have any recommendations I would really appreciate it.
If you don’t mind a paid app check out MiXplorer. I haven’t actually used any of the network sharing options, but they’re all there and it has various file views. It’s even better if your device is rooted.
I’ve actually only used it on a rooted device so your results may vary, but for me it does basically everything my desktop file manager can and is pretty customizable.
Also, if you’re rooted there are modules available to, uh, test it fully with addons!
See my comment reply to the other person who suggested this. It is astonishingly good. It’s beyond perfect! Thanks.
I will check it out, thanks!
You could try MiXplorer. There’s the full version of it on xdaforums or support the dev buying the silver version on google play. I haven’t use the smb functionality but it says it supports it.
Oh. My. God.
This is EXACTLY what I wanted and solo much more!! This guy has thought of everything. Not only grid mode but also gallery. Storage types more than I’ve even heard of!There are like a thousand pathetic simple file managers on the app shops but this one never came up on my searches. Or I just didn’t notice.
This app does everything and more than every other combined! And it performs FASTTTTTT!
Thank you! I’m gonna buy the store version to support the Dev, I just wanted to test it out. Exceeds my needs by orders of magnitude!
Thank you so much for the recommendation.
Happy to help. I’ve been using it for years and only recently bought the silver version to support the devs. I feel guilty waiting so long lol.
No other file managers come close.
You can even drag and drop files, either in the same pane/tab, or to different tabs.
If you didn’t found out while testing it, yes it can open tabs.
CxFileExplorer maybe
