HOI is one of those games where I have put in almost 100 hours and have never played the base game. The alt-history mods like Kaiserreich are way better. Jack Reed and Alexandra Kollontai has led global socialism to the defeat of the German Empire many times.
Leading global socialism to victory is all the sales pitch I needed for this game. Now I only have to wait for summer sale…

But how do you use the workshop on a pirated game?
theres sites that offer the mods (like skymods), and there’s forums that offer them too (like cs.rin.ru)
Welp its not the workshop but yeah If I can play moded like this I might give hoi a try, I once wanted to play but aparently the USSR mechanics in the official game are simply propaganda and gulags like wtf

If you restore the socialists/bolsheviks to power in Russia, the exact path changes with updates, but it is some form of setting up Bukharin to lead the coup as the last old Bolshevik in the government. Then you have a three way choice of potential leaders of the new socialist Russian government, with the left choice being Kollontai.

i think i have like 500 hrs and I haven’t played base game since learning how to use mods
it’s funny how much alt-history mods I have installed just to establish communism in them. From the classic Rto56 stuff to my shenanigans in TFR, honestly, Endsieg (or Gotterdamerung? Not the base game one) counts too if you play the 1941 start date.
Oh, and I have never learnt much of the mechanics. Like, putting me into a game without toolpack, player-led and console commands will destroy my country once I join a war… I like, play it sometimes whenever I see a cool mod, and trying to figure out what quirky mechanic added by a HOI4 DLC or mod I have to figure out takes up a lot of the time so I just kinda cheat them once I figure out what debug/console commands they correspond to.
At first I thought Engels was replaced with Nick Mullen.
