If I cast a permanent again for 2 after airbending it, will its cast triggers be triggered again. Can I, for example, use [[Appa, Loyal Sky Bison]] to airbend [[Emrakul, the Promised End]], and take control of another player for the 2 recast cost? Or will even Emrakul’s cast cost reduction apply, allowing me to do this for even less?
Yes. There is a crazy infinite combo deck in standard now: [[Appa, steadfast]] [[aang, swift]] and [[doc aurlock]]. Here is a decklist for reference: https://mtgdecks.net/Standard/bant-airbending-decklist-by-harrison-fang-2782596
Airbending allows the owner to “cast” from exile, so any effects that would happen upon casting will still happen.
Some effects specify “when cast from hand” or similar, and those won’t work, but the Emrakul in question should work as advertised.
Interestingly, various review sites which cover the airbend mechanic only mention leaves- and enters-the-battlefield triggers. But the rules explicitly state “cast it” in 701.65a.
Its a blink style, so it makes sense that its the first thing people think of, but its great for casts triggers and two sided cards (such as valki, god of lies).
I believe Emrakul’s cost reduction would apply to the alternate cost of casting it from airbending.
