Jacques Tilly’s carnival floats mocking Vladimir Putin have landed him before a Moscow court. As the trial drags on, the Dusseldorf-based satirist has denounced the charges as an assault on freedom of expression.
Tilly is not in Russia. The trial is held in his absence.

Imagine being so pathetic that you sue someone criticizing you in another country over which you have no jurisdiction.
I wouldn’t be going to Russia any time soon, if I were him
or any other country that is friendly with russia and might be willing to extradite him to russia.
In which case he could hardly hope for better publicity. What are the Russians thinking to go ahead and do this?
If they follow the US example they’ll kidnap him and say it’s justified.
