I have worked at this company since 2024, and for the most part, I’ve loved this job. The people are mostly great (save a few bad apples) and I do truly love the work I do.

However, a lot of this is because of my ex boss. He knew the management was toxic and he knew who the bad apples were so he shielded our team from them. We put out more productivity than other teams despite being a third of their size. Did the company acknowledge this in any way? Of course not.

After facing stress related health problems for years, he decided he needed to quit his job - and he did so late last year without any back up plan. He just knew he was done. The company didn’t promote anyone from our team to manager, nor did they hire a replacement manager. Those things cost money. They instead combined our small team into another team.

My new boss is someone who I have previously made a HR complaint against for bullying me. She is a mythic bitch and is just an absolutely mean person with no redeeming traits. She has used every opportunity to tell me how I “put her off” and she has chastised me for not completing tasks that she hadn’t given me yet. I replied to that last one with timestamps and she just never responded.

There is no one to talk to. HR tells me that redundancy is off the table and the company can do what they want.

The problem is, they know I’m a high performer. My boss gives me tasks that are not in my job description because she knows I can do them. I am treated like a dispensable admin except for when she needs help with complex tasks. But my opinions and expertise is completely disregarded otherwise.

So, I’ve decided to start stealing company time. The saving grace of this situation is that it is completely remote. I work from home 5 days a week. I have bought a mouse jiggler and I just do as little as I possibly can. They want me to do some difficult task? Sure, but it will take me the whole day. They don’t know better. No one else can do it anyway. They fired the guy whose job these difficult tasks was because they knew I could do it.

I miss feeling passionate about my job.
