Currently work in a factory and hate it but I get full benefits and a pension and make 36$ an hour. I’ve been there for over 8 years and feel that it’s draining and soulless to work there I have no seniority even with this time and work 2nd and 3rd for the majority of my career there. Recently I got a call from a county department for a maintenance/custodial position, I got called for an interview next week. From what I read it’s AFSCME and starts at 22.05 with benefits I also believe this will be a 1st shift position. My wife works and we will have a combined salary of about 88,000$. House is paid off and I’m vested in my pension at my job now and have pretty good amount of savings. I just want to feel like going to work won’t give me anxiety or the dread anymore I feel like I’m just a machine or number.
