Interesting read, apparently all of this is enabled mostly by russia losing starlink access.

Which is fucking insane on multiple levels, not only that private hands control this crucial element of communication and essentially remotely decide the battle outcome, but also that there is apparently still not a single viable alternative available controller by any other party.

Some fucking guy owning unimaginably much quite literally meddles in the fate of whole countries. Not to mention all the people fighting who essentially die or not die on elons whim.

It’s not really that Starlink is the ultimate secret weapon, it’s that Russia is completely incapable of making (enough of) their own encrypted radios. They’re using anything they can get their hands on: cellphones, shitty 40 euro Baofeng radios off of alibaba, anything commercially available.

What’s insane is that the US government has not classified Starlink as a technology with military utility and therefore under sanctions to prevent its use by adversaries… Of course the current regime doesn’t consider Russia an adversary so there’s that.

This was true before musk as well. For some reason no one batted an eye when corporations become more powerful than many nations. Looking at Google, Facebook, Shell and the like. These people do not under any circumstance qualify for the kind of power and influence they wield
