A friend of mine and I once thought it would be funny to try to say “I’m not racist but…” and then follow it up with the most innocuous nonsense possible that had nothing to do with race, but it turns out, just by prefacing “I’m not racist but…” it kind of makes EVERYTHING sound racist.
