my grandparents were engineers, my parents had the opportunities to thrive even after the system changed, and theres my generation who has to deal with the current job market… families in this region of the world are like this. stellar profession > poverty.

my parents are actually a special case because that inbetween generation also resorted to being criminals.

the thing is, my grandparents are not some sort of extreme intellects. but they lived in a system that WANTED to create engineers, nurses, teachers instead of hyperfocus on profit margins.

its so depressing to see it.

      this comment actually adds salt to the wound because my grandparents also had a lot of agricultural knowledge from their parents being peasants so they lived through shortages on fermented goods and i also dont know how to make pickles…
