Yeah, right-wing people who aren’t just bad people, generally only accept things when it affects them directly. It’s unfortunate, but at least you know he’s not the flat out “bad person” type. My mom is the pretend liberal type and was always LGBTQ+ and race-phobic despite pretending to be “liberal”. But she has softened a bit since I had my bottom surgery and she finally accepted I wasn’t just “sick” like the propaganda says.
