I’ve heard a lot about Zen browser, and I’m considering switching to it. However I can’t find info about adblocking with it, does it work similar to Firefox?

I love Zen. I run ublock origin and it’s fine. It’s host Firefox with UI changes is all.
It’s no different than Firefox. Install ublock origin and you’re set.
It is firefox, just has extra features and a different look/workflow with vertical tabs, just use ublock origin and maybe add a couple good filter lists in it too, you are good to go.
