This has nothing to do with capitalism, let alone its late stage. If you want to post random quotes, regardless of quality, perhaps you should find or create a community for such.
Preventing socialism or communism with bourgeoisie politics is LSC
I up vote this to fucking infinity… fuck these down vote turds
Not that I downvoted. The sentiment is good. But while Lenin has some very quotable phrases, his actual implementation of government was fascism, concentration camps, and slavery, and not just of the rich but many repressed minority groups. Centralized power and secret police is far right wing politically and quite far from communism. And ultimately even his economic policies after taking control of property and a few larger businesses, gave control, if not legal ownership, of most everything to just a different small minority of the powerful, not to the workers.
So he talked a good anticapitalist propaganda, but didn’t practice good communism at all and ultimately put Russia on the path to a long period of fascism with Stalin, the USSR, Putin, etc.
There are tons of better communists to quote.
To place Russian communism on the same moral level with Nazi fascism, because both are totalitarian, is, at best, superficial, in the worse case it is fascism. He who insists on this equality may be a democrat; in truth and in his heart, he is already a fascist, and will surely fight fascism with insincerity and appearance, but with complete hatred only communism.
Thomas Mann, Essays, ed. by H.Kurzke, Frankfurt 1986, vol. 2, p. 311
I never said Nazi or Germany even once. Fascism is a form of government. All Nazi’s are fascist, but but only a small subset of fascists are Nazis.
Read the argument around it, it’s not specific to Nazi Germany but of course that’s the country Thomas Mann talks about for obvious reasons.
It’s implying that I was stating that Russian fascism (misnamed communism) was on the same moral level as Nazi fascism. I never compared them. I said Russia was fascist, not communist. Here is the definition:
Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement that rose to prominence in early-20th-century Europe. Fascism is characterized by support for a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived interest of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy. Opposed to communism, democracy, liberalism, pluralism, and socialism, fascism is at the far-right of the traditional left–right spectrum.
This fits and fascism didn’t even originate in Nazi Germany, it originated in Italy with Mussolini during that time. Fascism started out as a worker rights movement:
The Fascist Manifesto supported the creation of an eight-hour work day for all workers, a minimum wage, worker representation in industrial management, equal confidence in labour unions as in industrial executives and public servants, reorganization of the transportation sector, revision of the draft law on invalidity insurance, reduction of the retirement age from 65 to 55, a strong progressive tax on capital, confiscation of the property of [political opponents], [etc.]
This same thing happened in Russia at the same time as it happened across Europe. And it became a far right form of government concerned primarily with consolidation of power to those at the top and the destruction of their political enemies. Consolidation of power to Lenin and his cabal and the institution of concentration camps and other violent methods of squashing political dissent is not communism, it was fascism just like Italy, Hungary, Romania, and yes Germany. Russia just started with pretending to be communist socialists while the others pretended to be democratic socialists.
